Middle School Multimedia Blogging and Podcasting Assignment and Checklist
You will continue to work on your blog and we will, next week, begin work on the podcast. This page simply summarizes what you are to include in your blog and how we will proceed, beginning on Tuesday, with our podcast.
Remember to have done the following by the end of Monday’s period (which means you may have to do some of this at home):
Have in your blog 3 photos along with a précis of news items. This could mean news in Korea or anywhere else in the world. News items should be reasonably well-known to the “average” person and not overly specific. News items could relate to the world of politics, medicine, entertainment, sports, technology and so on.
Have all nine (9) students and myself linked in your bloglist so as to easily navigate to a classmate’s site.
Through the comments section, add a line (or even two) to each classmate’s chain story. Make sure the story is something that could be read to any teacher in this school (i.e., no bad language or anything else that is considered inappropriate at school). Make sure the line you add fits reasonably well into the story. That means you have to have read (and possibly reread) the story to add a line or two of yours to your classmate’s story. In the end, each story should have a minimum of 10 sentences (maximum 20 sentences).
Each sentence is to have a noun and a verb. A minimum of seven (7) sentences must have adjectives within them. And a minimum of 5 sentences are to have adverbs within them.
All of the sentences that you write to your friends’ sites should have nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives.
With your finished story, you are to edit it. This means you touch up any improper grammar or punctuation (capital letters, periods, commas, spelling mistakes etc.). Finally, in a new posting you are to give your story a title.
Assignment Checklist--to get an A or higher, you must be able to say Yes to each of the following:
My bloglist contains every student and the teacher.
I have on my blog at least one gadget in addition to my bloglist (which is a gadget).
I have 3 photos of news items that could possibly be included in the yearbook along with a corresponding précis for each.
The sentences I have added to my classmates’ fitted reasonably well within their story
Yes, I read, or even reread, my classmates’ stories (as they build) so as to see how I could add a sentence that has a noun, verb, adjective and adverb.
Each sentence I added to a classmate’s blog contained a noun, an adjective, a verb and an adverb.
My edited story has a title.
My edited story has a minimum of 10 sentences.
My edited story has a minimum of 7 adjectives.
My edited story has a minimum of 5 adverbs.
My edited story is posted under a creative title in my blog.
My edited story has a minimum of 5 links that lead to external images or sounds etc.
I have reread my story many times and have no spelling or grammar errors at all!
Overall, I am proud of my story and that it could be read to any teacher.
If you have all these elements checked, you can expect a grade in the A range. Missing elements will result in a grade of B or even C.
Starting next week, you will read your completed story into Audacity and create a truly multimedia story. This means you have to read it very well into the microphone with good rhythm and intonation.
Podcast
Starting next Tuesday, we’re going to begin work on a podcast. You will read your completed story into the microphone and record your story using the program Audacity. We will then add music to the story
OK, everyone, here is my first line. Feel free to suggest possible edits.
Yesterday, while at Jang Mountain, in Busan, I saw two girls who were playing in the stream. I saw that a flood was coming so I ran for the girls like a lightning to push them out of the way but the brave act cost me being taken by the foaming rushing water!
We're slowly getting our blogs up and going. Just a reminder about what we're trying to do. Please make sure that, by tomorrow, you've added the following to your blog:
two news items, summarized by a precis, along with at least one photo per news story. (Remember that the stories could be in the world of sports, the arts, politics, something big that's happened internationally or nationally).

Today, we're going to work on a chain story. You may have done something like this before in your English class somewhere during your elementary or middle school education. You will write one descriptive line of text. It must contain a noun, a verb, at least one adjective, at least one adverb. After you write your line, you will visit your classmates' blogs and add a line of text to theirs. In the end each of you should have a story of 10 sentences. You will then end of the story with a sentence. So your participation for your own story will be 2 sentences.
Each story must have a beginning, a middle and an end. Each story must have a setting. Please remember: setting tells us, the reader, about where and when the story is taking place.
Once the stories are done, you are going to practice recording your story (with a partner, if you wish) using Audacity. We'll then add some appropriate music to it, any effects that might be good, and then we'll publish the podcast to your blog.
Students will post two (2) images from the world wide web. They will also include links to the news source. The images are to be about news items in the world at the moment. Try to think of items that are not too restricted to a particular country that few people would know.

Sports
Fashion
